A MIND BLOWING COMIC YOU NEED TO WATCH OUT FOR Meet talented 19 year old Chris Markland the author of SUPAFLY, a writer and artist from Toronto Ontario.

On this interesting interview he talks about his art, comic book and many more .

Q: Can you briefly talk about your works?

A: I mostly specialize in comic book media and superhero fantasy. I am currently in the process of writing and illustrating my own graphic novel series Supafly: The Guardian, which is also currently an ongoing web series on my school's online platform, OcaduLive. I also like to make fan art of my favorite nerdy properties, like Marvel, DC, Nicktoons, Netflix shows and generally whatever interests me. My work is mostly digital, using programs like photoshop, procreate, and autodesk sketchbook, but I've also been known to use traditional media, whether it's colic markers, dry pastels, pencil crayon, or watercolor.

Q: When did you develop passion for art or what was the inspiration behind it?

A: I had a passion for art as comics from a very early age, ever since I was introduced to Justice League coloring books when I was about 5 or 6. Growing up, I would spend hours trying to draw stories and characters of my own, and they all looked like trash. But I didn't care, because every incoherent scribble-drawing I ever made came from the heart, even if I didn't yet have the skills to match. But my parents came from a musical background, soI often found myself being pushed to pursue a career that I wasn't all that interested in, when all I really wanted to do was sit around drawing men in tights and talking gorillas. It wasn't until I came into high school that my career as an artist started to take hold, where a small sketch I had made in freshman year had captured my imagination. Modelling the character after myself, and giving him a vaguely undefined power set and some cool shades, Supafly was born. Switching out of my school's musical theatre program and into visual arts, I then started honing my craft, and developing my style. All of the other artists in school were MILES ahead of me in terms of skill, so I had to work extra hard to get on their level. Through a writer's craft class I was taking in grade twelve, I was encouraged by my teacher to start writing my first novel, combining comics and text into what would eventually become the first issue of Supafly: The Guardian. My graphic novel is loosely based in my life as a teenager trying to find his place in the world. My main character, Matt Mason, is both blessed and cursed with the ability to see supernatural threats that regular humans can't, which is often how I felt growing up with ADHD and an overactive imagination.

Q:What was the most difficult thing about branching in and starting your own comic book?

A:To be honest, the most difficult thing was just... Starting it. Writers like me often tend to have ideas kicking around in their head for years, but when it comes time to actually put those ideas on paper, they hit a wall. It takes a certain level of motivation to be able to sit down and write a chapter, or anything, because you're essentially putting a piece of yourself out on display for all to see. One of the first major lessons I had to learn writing my book is giving myself the permission to suck. A lot of the first drafts I've written over the years have been complete and utter garbage, but through many revisions, rewrites, and edits, I was able to turn all of them into something beautiful. It's all about trusting the process.

Q:How would you describe the plot or imagery of your work?

A: The first words that come to mind are vibrant and bombastic. With every peace I make I try to capture the exaggerated, over-the-top nature of comics, whether it be through action, imagery, angles, or even lighting. The action scenes in my book are very expressive and fast paced

The story revolves around teenage superhero Matt Mason and his quest to rid his city of Jaxtown from ravenous demons known as the Phantom Beasts, who are possessing ordinary people and granting them supernatural powers. With the help of his friends and allies, Matt must suit up to face the likes of sinister nun ninjas (Nunjas), a human tidal wave, and rival vigilantes who aren't afraid to kill, along with a host of other colorful baddies. But no matter what threat comes his way, Supafly will never back down.

Q:Are there any books(projects )currently on or published?

A:Nothing officially published yet, but I do have copies of the first issue of my series available for pre-order. Anybody who's interested can DM my insta for details. I also have my ongoing web series adaptation, Supafly: The Web Series. You can visit my YouTube channel Supafly Official to access the full library of episodes.

Q: What’s a favourite quote or word of advice you would like to share?

A:"there is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time." -Malcolm X
