Q:Please can you introduce yourself?

A:Hi! I'm Jess and currently I'm 14! I reside in the California.

Q: Great so what do you do?

A:I enjoy working on poetry, and I'm a writer! I think that creating art through words is important, and can really broaden your view of the world.

Q:Awesome

When did you start working on poetry or when did you discover you loved writing?

A:I never really focused on poetry until around March of 2020. I loved to read all throughout my life, and I have some poetry books that I would look back on constantly. I remember writing my first creative writing essay almost around 5 years ago, and I think that's what propelled me to write creatively more. I think up until around last year, I never really understood how poetry worked. Even though I had been exposing myself too it, I never really grasped on to the concept. I think that's when about I met friends who also loved writing, and it was refreshing to see the world through someone else's writing. So that's about when I decided to take up poetry as a hobby. But I do think that reading lots of material and attempting to write mini-stories all throughout the past 5-6 years or so did give me a kickstart.

Q:Wow,interesting

What would you say is the imagery of your poetry piece?

A:Many of my life experiences are used as the muses of my poetry. The people that are around me, or even just plain emotion in general. I would like to take those concepts and smooth them out into a story one could walk through. I think it's important to have the reader feel entranced after reading

my poetry, like a story they could look back on and remember.

Q:Wonderful,is there any special feeling you get whenever you write?

A:It really depends on the piece I'm writing. I do tend to put emotion into my pieces, so if I have a light story I tend to feel more happy on those days. Sometimes, I type out purely just my thoughts, other times I journey on an adventure through my brain to collect the right words. Writing comes easily to people only if you beckon it towards you the right way. I wouldn't say there's any "trick" to writing, and I think that it's more of trying to blindly feel around your thoughts and emotions. Once you really grasp onto a concept that you like, whatever you want to say will fall easily into your hands. My writing isn't meant to be logical in any sort of way, it's more of putting spontaneity onto paper and breathing life into it.

Q:Awesome

Lastly what message do you have for people out there or a favourite quote?

A:A word of advice if it's okay. I don't have a specific favorite quote, but I do have a bit of advice that I think everyone should hear. Never reach a plateau. If anything, reaching flat ground after struggling for a while is only rewarding for a few minutes. Losing the passion for something you love, or turning away from that topic because of the brutal pressures from others is one of the worst ways you can beat yourself down. Use the spontaneity you have within yourself, and use the youth/childlike immaturity to your advantage. Keep struggling up a mountain with hopes that you'll never make it to the top, because that passion that you'll have, will be a catalyst for keeping your love for an interest alive. I would like to recommend a poem by Jorge Luis Borges called Instants. I think it'll be an important piece for everyone to read, regardless of age or circumstance.
